The Riga lady is concerned about the amenities of city dwellers who have still been living somewhere in the 19th century. They are promised financial assistance – up to 2000 euros – depending on the length of the pipes that need to be laid.
The existence of toilets of the 'outhouse' type was reminded by Europe, which provided funding under the Cohesion Fund project 'Development of Water Management in Riga, Phase 4'.
Under this program, 5228 residents are already connected to the city sewage system or are in the process of being connected, and 3383 residents are connected to the water supply system.
According to the regulations of the Riga City Council, the amount of co-financing for connecting to the sewage system depends on the length of the constructed connection: up to 5 meters – 1000 euros, from 5 to 20 meters – 1500 euros, over 20 meters – 2000 euros. Funds are provided after the construction of the connection.
No co-financing is provided for connecting to the water supply system.
The Riga City Council emphasizes that the overall process of creating a connection, taking into account all necessary approvals and administrative stages, may take approximately four to six months, and in some cases even longer.
