An Outstanding Income Property with a Rich History Goes on Sale in Riga

The government has allowed the State Real Estate Management (VNĪ) to sell the buildings of the Ministry of Economics and the Central Statistical Bureau.

VNĪ will be able to auction the building of the Ministry of Economics located at Brivibas Street 55, as well as the buildings of the Central Statistical Bureau at Lachplesha Street 1 and Kr. Valdemara Street 32 in Riga.

As reported, the buildings are planned to be sold after the current tenants - the Ministry of Economics, the Consumer Rights Protection Center, the Competition Council, the Latvian National Accreditation Bureau, and the Central Statistical Bureau - move to premises at Talejas Street 1.

The buildings will be gradually alienated in 2026 and 2027 after the premises are vacated and relevant decisions are made by the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the sale of specific real estate.

From a historical perspective, the most valuable property is the building at Brivibas Street 55, which currently houses the Ministry of Economics and its subordinate institutions, consisting of a land plot of 0.2044 hectares, an administrative building of 7413.6 square meters, and an administrative building of 330.3 square meters.

For this property, a fiscal cadastral value of 3,557,768 euros has been established as of December 23, 2025, and a universal cadastral value of 5,767,082 euros as of January 1, 2025.

The architectural monument is known as Bingnerhof - an outstanding income property in the style of romanticized Renaissance (sometimes attributed to early modernism), built in 1900–1901. It was the first stone house with a complete set of amenities in the area, becoming a symbol of the technical progress of the era.

It was erected at the initiative of A. von Bingner, the founder of the Riga Construction Society, and immediately stood out for its technical equipment: plumbing, hot water supply, central heating, and an elevator!
