Traffic jams formed on several sections of Riga's streets on Friday around noon as residents sought to leave the capital for the weekend to enjoy the summery warm weather outside the city, reports LETA.
According to traffic data from "BalticMaps", it took five or more minutes longer than usual to traverse certain sections of the streets in the first half of the day on Friday. The most significant congestion is observed in the direction of Vidzeme, where drivers are stuck in traffic even when trying to turn from the Vidzeme Highway onto the Tallinn Highway.
Traffic jams have also formed on Zolitūdes Street from Rostokas Street to Jūrmala Gatve, on Lubānas Street from Meirānu Street to Sakharova Street, and on Ziepniekkalna Street from Jānis Čakste Boulevard to Bauskas Street.
