The management of Rīgas nami is desperately trying to avoid layoffs.
As is known, the Mayor of Riga, Viesturs Kleinbergs, after the emergency closure of the meat pavilion at the Riga Central Market, decided to visit the "scene" a day later and was dissatisfied with what he saw. He demanded that the Executive Director of Riga, Jānis Lange, assess the responsibility of the management of Rīgas nami, which oversees the Central Market. And today, the municipal enterprise Rīgas nami announced that most of the traders from the meat pavilion have already been relocated to other areas of the market and continue to sell meat products.
"Rīgas nami LLC, in collaboration with the administration of the Riga Central Market, continues to work on implementing solutions so that the traders who were still operating in the closed meat pavilion can safely and conveniently offer their products in other trading places within the Riga Central Market. Already, several traders who previously worked in the meat pavilion have resumed operations in the Gastronomy and Fish pavilions, and fresh meat, smoked products, and other meat items are available to customers. Out of 33 meat traders, 17 merchants are already operating in new trading places, while specific solutions are being offered and implemented for the others so that meat sales can be fully resumed in the near future.
"Our priority is to ensure that traders can continue their work as soon as possible and that customers have the same wide selection of meat products at the Riga Central Market as before. More than half of the meat traders have already resumed work, and we are working every day to increase that number," noted the Chairman of the Board of Rīgas nami LLC, Oļģers Vālers.
After the closure of the meat pavilion, Rīgas nami LLC immediately began intensive work with traders to promptly provide them with alternative trading places that meet food turnover and storage requirements within the Riga Central Market.
Currently, technical work is ongoing to transfer refrigerated display cases and create new trading places in the fish pavilion. Rīgas nami LLC, employees of the Riga Central Market, and involved specialists have been working almost around the clock for several days to ensure additional trading places for meat traders as soon as possible. In addition to creating new trading places in the pavilions, mobile trading places will be provided to traders on the territory of the Riga Central Market so that as many merchants as possible can quickly resume operations.
Currently, customers are encouraged to look for meat products in the "Gastronomy" pavilion and the fish pavilion, where several entrepreneurs who previously offered their products in the meat pavilion have already resumed work.
