Today at 1:00 PM in Riga, near the Dailes Theatre, the bicycle ride 'Critical Mass' will begin, reports LETA.
As the organizers of the event note annually, the goal of the ride is to remind politicians of the need for safe bicycle infrastructure in Riga.
Previous rides have shown that participants, moving in a large group, often violate traffic rules, resulting in conflict situations with the police.
During the event, the State Police will closely monitor public order and compliance with traffic regulations, the police informed the LETA agency.
Participants in 'Critical Mass' can join on light, emission-free means of transport, including roller skates, skateboards, and others.
As every year, the route will be determined by the participants riding at the front. During the ride, it is necessary to keep to the right side of the road, avoiding the oncoming lane and not using sidewalks. The organizers urge participants to ride in a tight group to prevent large gaps from forming "into which cars could squeeze in."
During the event, participants should ride carefully, avoiding sharp maneuvers and risky tricks.
