The media reports that Russia is conducting a large-scale information war against the Baltic states. Well, Latvia is happy to help — the harmful deputies constantly provide reasons for propaganda, claims Bozhena Rynska, a public figure living in Latvia and a Russian relocant.
"When I was in Russia in the fall, various officials asked me: where are you from? When I answered: from Latvia, they recoiled in horror and began to pity me, offering help, saying, poor you, you are being oppressed there.
Ask any representative of the deep people of Russia what is happening in Latvia, and everyone will answer: Nazis, they eat Russians alive. And it's not just the deep people; even Russian-speaking Americans and the new wave of emigration coming to Latvia for the summer are surprised why Latvians in stores don't spit in their faces when asked questions in Russian. How surprising, I asked in Russian, and they answered me. And they didn't even rude.
Propaganda completely distorts the essence of Latvia, distorts the perception of typical ordinary Latvians — who are usually polite people that do not want conflicts and strife — and many Latvian politicians help to form a negative image of Latvia and Latvians with their statements. It is very upsetting because Latvia does not deserve such an image, and it has no relation to reality.
