One of the Baltic States is Ready to Send Sailors for the Clearance of the Strait of Hormuz

Participation in a military mission to restore free navigation through the strategic Strait of Hormuz has been allowed by the Estonian government.

This was stated by the Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Margus Tsahkna. He noted that Tallinn is ready to discuss with the United States the participation of its military in a military mission to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, through which all oil exports from the Persian Gulf countries pass – about 20% of global supplies.

The head of the Estonian Foreign Ministry said that he sees no reason to believe that the situation will calm down in the near future.

"The President of the United States said that he expects support from NATO allies... Estonia's position is that if the States raise this issue, for example, in NATO or at a bilateral level – then, of course, we are ready to discuss these matters... It all depends very much on what exactly the U.S. will ask for, if they ask," he said.

Tsahkna continued that if it comes to specific military support, there must be "very clear plans."

It should be noted that currently almost all EU and NATO countries have refused Trump’s request for help in the war with Iran over the strait, through which 20% of the world's oil and 30% of all liquefied natural gas pass.

As reported by bb.lv, the Latvian military has taken a pause – currently, the participation of Latvian forces in a possible operation in the Strait of Hormuz is not planned, stated the Minister of Defense of Latvia Andris Spruds.
