Some households will see their electricity bills rise

As of today, state support for electricity, introduced in 2023, is ending, and for some households with single-phase and three-phase connections, the monthly fee for maintaining capacity will increase, LETA was informed by AS 'Sadales tīkls'.

The decision on state support was introduced in 2023 to limit the sharp increase in electricity tariffs. The support will end on January 1, 2026, which will affect the actual payment for distribution services for the most commonly used connections for individuals (from 16 to 25 amps) and the 'Basic' tariff plan.

For households with single-phase connections, the monthly fee for maintaining capacity will increase by €0.2 to €1.26 per month excluding VAT, depending on the chosen capacity, while for households with three-phase connections, it will increase by €1.92 to €3.50 excluding VAT, starting in January. These changes will not affect households that do not receive state assistance (with connections of 32A and above) and legal entities - for these clients, the actual fee for capacity maintenance will remain unchanged in 2026.

The changes will also not affect the size of the monthly payment for clients using the 'Special' tariff plan, which is suitable for exceptional cases such as properties with zero or very low consumption, summer houses in winter, or unoccupied apartments. At the same time, starting in January, the threshold for preferential consumption for the 'Special' tariff plan will be slightly increased.

In 2026, protected electricity consumers - those in need or low-income, large families, or families with disabled children, and individuals with first-group disabilities - will continue to receive support from the state budget for electricity payments in the amount of €20-25.
