This weekend, light frost and snow are expected in most of Latvia; however, as forecasters predict, the cold snap will be short-lived, writes LETA.
On the night of Saturday, a slight cloudiness is expected, with more clouds in Kurzeme, but no precipitation is anticipated. With a light wind, the air temperature will drop to -3 to -8 degrees, and in Kurzeme, it will be from 0 to -3 degrees. On Saturday, rain and snow will occur in Kurzeme, and in the evening, snow is expected in the central part of the country.
On the night of Sunday, a snow cover will form in most regions of the country, but in the west of Kurzeme, it will be raining. During the day, light precipitation is expected, with maximum air temperatures ranging from -3 degrees in the east of the country to +7 degrees on the western coast of Kurzeme.
On Monday, temperatures across Latvia will warm up to +2 to +7 degrees, with rain in most areas, and a gusty west and southwest wind blowing in Kurzeme.
According to the current Global Forecast System, during the next week, maximum air temperatures will remain between +2 to +7 degrees, and at night, in some places, the thermometer may drop slightly below zero. Under the influence of the anticyclone, there will be little precipitation. Similar weather is also forecasted for Christmas.
