Are you warm, maiden? Warming will begin in Latvia next week

Meteorologists from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre forecast that warming will begin in Latvia in the middle of next week.

At the beginning of next week, especially at night, cool weather will persist in Latvia. However, as a cyclone approaches from the west, the wind along the coast will become more gusty, and by mid-week, a warmer and more humid air mass will start to flow into the country.

On Monday, October 20, the sky will be partly cloudy, with brief showers possible in some areas. The wind will be light, strengthening during the day and becoming southerly. Nighttime temperatures will range from 0 to +5 °C, while in the eastern regions it will be colder — from 0 to -5 °C. During the day, temperatures will warm up to +6…+11 °C.

On Tuesday, October 21, and Wednesday, October 22, the sky will be partly cloudy, but throughout Wednesday, cloud cover will gradually increase from the west.

On Tuesday, no precipitation is expected, while on Wednesday, light rain may occur in some western areas during the day. A light to moderate southeast and east wind will blow, which will strengthen in some coastal areas to 14 m/s during the second half of Tuesday and overnight into Wednesday. Nighttime temperatures on Tuesday will drop below 0 °C in many places, and on Wednesday night, negative temperatures will mainly persist only in the eastern part of the country. During the day, temperatures will warm up to +7…+12 °C.

In the second half of the week, the amount of sunlight will gradually decrease, and precipitation will be observed over most of the country. As warmer air masses arrive, both nighttime and daytime temperatures will remain positive and will rise several degrees higher than in the middle of the week.
