A sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating are dangerous for the heart.
General practitioner Aigul Arslanova listed the most dangerous habits for the heart that slowly kill the health of this organ.
One of these habits, the doctor noted, is a sedentary lifestyle. Arslanova explained that it weakens muscles, slows down metabolism, and increases the risk of obesity and heart diseases. To avoid these problems, she urged to take a short break every 30 minutes for some light exercise.
The doctor added that unhealthy eating with excessive salt, sugar, saturated fats, and trans fats also harms heart health. The specialist clarified that a healthy diet should consist mainly of whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
Arslanova added that smoking, alcohol abuse, lack of sleep, chronic stress, excess weight, and social isolation also pose dangers to heart health. In addition, the doctor urged not to ignore dangerous symptoms and to undergo regular medical check-ups.
