Denmark's Acting Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed confidence that Russia is preparing for a new wave of aggression against European countries. She stated this in an interview with the Polish publication Gazeta Wyborcza.
When asked how exactly Russia might spread its aggression to European countries, the head of the Danish government suggested that it would involve hybrid threats.
"Perhaps some operation under a false flag? Or some new form of hybrid warfare? It is ongoing everywhere, the Russians constantly violate borders. What holds them back are the losses they are incurring in Ukraine. They are stuck, the war is consuming a large part of their military resources. Including human resources," she explained.
In response to a journalist's question about whether Russia is capable of extending its war against Ukraine to other states, Frederiksen answered affirmatively.
"Unfortunately, such a scenario is possible. I cannot predict exactly how and where the situation will escalate. I also cannot predict what we will have to deal with. But I am sure that we are facing a new wave of aggression from Russia," the official replied.
She noted that her views on the Russian threat are similar to those of Poland, which are shaped by the historical experience of that country in combating the Russian threat.
"I believe that the war in Ukraine, which was unleashed by Russia, concerns not only Ukraine... There can only be one conclusion. And it has not changed since the beginning of this war: we must support Ukraine with all our strength and at any cost," Frederiksen added.
In Frederiksen's opinion, Europe is now much better prepared for Russian threats than it was a few years ago.
