On the evening of January 11 at 17:00, the Riga Orthodox Chamber Choir 'Blagovest' invites you to start the New Year with an Orthodox Christmas concert—a spiritual musical event that will allow you to feel the bright atmosphere of the Nativity of Christ.
The program prepared by the 'Blagovest' choir will be an unforgettable encounter in music, where every sound transforms into a prayer, and silence becomes a space for deep reflection. The choir will perform Christmas carols, church hymns, and spiritual works filled with prayer, joy, and solemnity.
The songs will intertwine musical moods from different eras and styles—from the deeply spiritual works of Artemiy Vedel and the academically refined, polyphonically virtuosic music of Sergey Taneyev to the contrasting, modern sound of Alfred Schnittke and the lyrical, poignant melody of Raimonds Pauls, which together will create an emotionally rich musical tapestry where the ancient and the contemporary merge in a harmonious synthesis.
The artistic director is Alexander Brandavs, with conductors Oksana Cherkasova and Janis Kokins. The concert will be hosted by Irina Vinnik.
