The winners of the 2026 Pulitzer Prize have been announced in the categories of literature, drama, music, and journalism.

In the Fiction category, the winner is Daniel Kraus's novel "Angel Down." This work about World War I combines allegory, magical realism, and science fiction in a single composition written in one sentence.

In the Drama category, the play "Liberation" by Bess Wohl is recognized, which "explores the activities of groups raising feminist awareness in the 1970s."

In the History category, the laureate is Jill Lepore for her work "We the People: A History of the U.S. Constitution." The book explains why the U.S. Constitution is difficult to amend, particularly through examples of failed amendments proposed by marginalized groups.

In the Biography category, Amanda Wailes wins with her book "Pride and Pleasure: The Schuyler Sisters in an Age of Revolution." This is a biography of two daughters of influential Dutch landowners who left their mark on U.S. history against the backdrop of the American Revolution.

In the Poetry category, Julianna Spar wins with her collection Ars Poeticas. In the book, the author reconsiders her relationship with poetry as an art form, community, and politics through her own disappointment.

In the music category, the Pulitzer Prize is awarded to Gabriela Lena Frank for her work "Picaflor: A Future Myth," created under the influence of the theme of taming California wildfires and Andean legends.

The New York Times received three awards. The editorial team won in the Investigative Journalism category, Masha Gessen won in the Columns category for an essay on the rise of authoritarian regimes, and photographer Saher Alghorra won for a series of images on the aftermath of the war in Gaza.

A special award was given to journalist Julie K. Brown for her series of investigations "Perversion of Justice," dedicated to the case of Jeffrey Epstein.
