The adaptation of one of the most discussed fantasy novels in recent years has finally received official status. The streaming service Prime Video has confirmed the launch of a series based on the book 'Fourth Wing' by author Rebecca Yarros.
Amazon MGM Studios acquired the adaptation rights back in 2023, but work on the project has dragged on for nearly two years. During this time, fans of the series actively discussed potential casting and the fate of the project, fearing that the series might be put on hold.
The situation changed after new showrunner Meredith Averill joined the creation of the show. She will be responsible for bringing the book's story to the screen after Moira Wally-Beckett left the project.
The novel 'Fourth Wing' has become a true hit in the romantic fantasy and dark academia genre. The story follows Violet Sorrengail, who dreamed of becoming a scribe but is forced by her mother to enroll in a military academy for dragon riders, where not all cadets survive.
The series is produced by Outlier Society, associated with actor Michael B. Jordan. He previously stated that the creators want to make the adaptation as sincere as possible and avoid a formulaic approach to the characters and the book's world.
So far, the project's authors have not revealed the cast or the start date for filming. However, interest in the series is already huge—fantasy fans expect Prime Video to attempt to create a new major hit in the spirit of 'Game of Thrones' and 'The Wheel of Time.'
