In autumn, gardeners have a lot to do, including treating the greenhouse to protect against dangerous insects and various ailments.
Aphids and whiteflies are the most dangerous. The latter prefer tomatoes and cucumbers. At the end of the season, this pest is particularly active, so it is important to combat it during this period.
First of all, the greenhouse should be washed with warm water mixed with household soap. The air temperature should be no lower than 10 degrees.
Then the greenhouse needs to be treated with fungicides to protect against fungal diseases. Bordeaux liquid or copper sulfate can be used.
Next, the soil should be replaced or treated. Ideally, it is better to completely replace it, but if that is not possible, it is allowed to remove the top layer and add fresh soil or compost.
It is sometimes recommended to cover the beds with polyethylene or covering material. Additionally, all doors and windows in the greenhouse should be closed for the winter.
