Firefighter«s Pet Nearly Burned Down His House

In the American city of Chapel Hill, a firefighter's home was threatened due to his four-legged pet, reports WRAL News.

A dog named Colton found a lithium-ion battery and began to chew on it. The damage was so severe that the battery caught fire and ignited the carpet. The frightened animal ran to the second floor. The incident was captured on surveillance camera.

According to the dog's owner, D. Sasser, there was no one home at the time. He learned about the incident through the security system. The man admitted that he was very worried on his way home, fearing that the house would be completely burned down. However, upon arrival, he saw that the fire was limited to just a burned patch of carpet. Fortunately, Colton was unharmed.

Experts remind us that lithium-ion batteries often cause fires, so it is essential to take precautions when storing and disposing of them.
