Night Race near Bauska: Woman Without a License Fined €3,280

During the holiday weekend in the vicinity of Bauska, a woman without a driver's license received a fine of €3,280 for speeding, the State Police reported to the LETA agency.

On December 26, around 2:30 AM, police in the Bauska region noticed a BMW car on Bauska highway, which was traveling at a speed of 167 km/h in a zone with a permitted speed of 90 km/h, exceeding the allowable speed by 77 km/h.

The police began to pursue the vehicle, which had already entered the populated area where the maximum permitted speed is 50 km/h; however, the car continued to travel at a speed of 124 km/h.

Police officers demanded that the driver stop the vehicle. Upon checking the driver's identity, it was revealed that the driver was a woman born in 1989, who did not have a driver's license.

The State Police initiated two administrative proceedings for exceeding the permitted speed—one for the violation outside the populated area and the other for speeding within the populated area. For these violations, a fine of €1,400 to €2,000 is provided, as well as a suspension of the driver's license for a period of 12 to 36 months.

In addition, an administrative proceeding was initiated for operating a vehicle without a driver's license. For this violation, a fine of €280 to €570 is provided.

In this case, the woman behind the wheel was assigned a total fine of €3,280.
