The Riga City Court sentenced a Moldovan citizen to four years in prison for exposing his naked body to children in Riga, LETA reports.
The court sentenced the man to four years in prison with a three-year probation period, deportation from Latvia after serving his sentence, and a five-year entry ban to the country, the prosecutor's office informed LETA.
According to the indictment, the man exposed his genitals four times on the streets and public transport in Riga between September 23 and October 28, 2024, showing them to girls under 14 years old.
To establish the man's identity, the State Police published his photographs on social media. Thanks to the active participation of the public, the man was quickly identified, apprehended, and arrested.
During the court proceedings, the man pleaded not guilty, claiming that he was intoxicated and forgot to zip up his fly. He had no prior convictions.
The Criminal Code provides for a punishment of up to seven years in prison for such a crime, with a probation period of up to five years.
