German media report that about five months after the murder, the wanted minor was found in Lithuania by officers of the criminal police of North Rhine-Westphalia and detained in cooperation with the Federal Criminal Police Office and Lithuanian authorities.

As the suspect is a minor, law enforcement agencies do not disclose the motives for the murder. However, according to German media, the most likely motive was a brief intimate relationship between her and the victim. It is believed that later the girl deeply regretted this relationship and planned the murder.

The girl was detained in Klaipeda. She is suspected of having stabbed her peer, a schoolboy, on January 14. Based on a European arrest warrant, she is currently in custody and will be extradited to Germany.

A few weeks ago, Focus online reported that the family of the murdered young man had offered a reward of 20,000 euros for information that would help catch the fugitive suspect.

The victim's family's lawyer, Burkhard Beneken, in response to a question about the situation, stated that a witness had approached them a few weeks ago, providing important information about the possible whereabouts of the 17-year-old girl.

According to preliminary investigation data, the suspect met the future victim on the terrace of an abandoned house in Castrop-Rauxel. It is believed that there she killed the young man with a knife blow to the neck.

After committing the crime, the girl was detained but was soon released. She claimed that it was self-defense – allegedly the young man was trying to rape her.

However, later, after analyzing her mobile phone, it was discovered that the 17-year-old girl had previously searched the internet for information on how to kill someone and lured the young man to the crime scene by promising him a surprise.
