The Latvian national airline airBaltic has entered the top ten safest airlines in the world, ranking seventh in the 2026 global agency Airline Ratings ranking.

The Latvian national airline airBaltic has been included in the ranking of the safest airlines in the world, which is compiled annually by the global agency Airline Ratings, analyzing industry data, passenger reviews, and safety indicators.

According to information on the Airline Ratings website, in 2026 airBaltic ranked seventh in the Top 25 safest airlines in the world. The year before, the carrier was only in 25th place, significantly improving its results.

The first place in the ranking was taken by Hong Kong's HK Express, followed by Australia's Jetstar Airways and Singapore's Scoot.

Sharon Petersen, the CEO of Airline Ratings, noted that airBaltic has one of the youngest and most modern fleets in Europe, consisting of Airbus A220-300 aircraft, and has demonstrated a high level of safety for a long time.

According to her, over the past three years, the number of incidents per flight has been extremely low, and no serious incidents have been recorded at all. The airline's reputation in the field of safety continues to improve, reflecting the professionalism and dedication of the team. Petersen also emphasized that this result is particularly significant given the challenging winter conditions, including frequent and intense snowfall.

In turn, the Chief Operating Officer of airBaltic, Pauls Kalitis, stated that the assigned rating confirms the airline's high safety culture, the professionalism of the team, as well as investments in staff training, maintaining a modern fleet, and operational discipline.

Previously, Airline Ratings also recognized airBaltic as one of the leading airlines in sustainability, as well as one of the most popular airlines in Europe and the UK. The Airline Ratings ranking is based on a number of criteria, including the age and size of the fleet, the experience and training of pilots, the number of incidents, and other indicators.
