The UK has allowed the import of diesel fuel and aviation kerosene produced from Russian oil in third countries, the government announced.

The relevant license comes into effect on May 20, 2026. It is indefinite and subject to periodic review. The Minister of Business and Trade has the authority to amend its conditions and suspend the license; he can also revoke it with four months' notice.

The Department of Business and Trade issued a license that exempts from sanctions the import of diesel fuel and aviation kerosene produced from Russian oil in third countries, as well as certain operations and services related to the servicing of such imports.

The document was published on the UK government website.

Earlier on Tuesday, the United States extended for the second time the temporary exemption from sanctions for seaborne Russian oil, which was issued in mid-March.
