The Oslo court sentenced 29-year-old Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a previous relationship and stepson of the heir to the throne, Crown Prince Haakon, to four years in prison for rape. He faced a total of 38 counts.

29-year-old Marius Borg Høiby, the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a previous relationship and stepson of the heir to the throne Crown Prince Haakon, has no royal title or official duties.

In February, he pleaded not guilty to rape after prosecutor Sturla Henriksen presented 38 counts in the Oslo District Court.

The charges also included abuse in close relationships with one partner, violence against another, drug possession, threats of murder, and traffic violations.

Høiby admitted to several traffic violations, a serious drug offense, and violation of a restraining order, as well as "partially" to threats and inflicting serious bodily harm.

The investigation began in 2024 when Høiby became a suspect in a case of assaulting a woman he was in a relationship with. He was arrested and then released. However, prosecutors added new counts when other women came forward with accusations against him.

The indictment presented by prosecutors last year involves four alleged rapes committed from 2018 to November 2024; alleged violence and threats against a former partner from the summer of 2022 to the fall of 2023; as well as two episodes of alleged violence against a subsequent partner and violations of a restraining order.
