Iran launched seven ballistic missiles towards Kuwait and Bahrain, U.S. military officials reported. According to the U.S., most targets were intercepted, and there have been no reports of American military personnel being harmed.

The situation in the Persian Gulf continues to escalate. On Saturday, Iran launched seven ballistic missiles at the territories of Kuwait and Bahrain, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported.

According to the American side, six missiles were intercepted by air defense systems. One more missile did not reach its intended target.

CENTCOM emphasized that no American personnel were harmed as a result of the attack. The command also denied Iran's claims of alleged damage to the U.S. 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.

After the missile launch, the armed forces of Kuwait reported the operation of air defense systems to intercept missiles and drones. In Bahrain, authorities declared an air alert and activated warning sirens.

The attack was claimed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran. Tehran stated that the target of the strike was "enemy bases" in the region.

The incident occurred just hours after another episode of confrontation. Earlier that same day, CENTCOM reported the interception of four Iranian drones heading towards the Strait of Hormuz.

What is important to understand: Kuwait and Bahrain are key U.S. allies in the region and host American military facilities on their territories. Any strikes in their direction automatically increase the risk of further escalation of the conflict.

After the destruction of the drones, U.S. military forces struck Iranian radar observation stations along the coast. Thus, the exchange of military actions between the parties continues not only in the air but also against infrastructure targets.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties or serious damage in Kuwait and Bahrain. However, the new missile strike indicates a continued expansion of the geography of confrontation in the region.
