Estonia Prepares for Possible Blockade: Must Endure 30 Days Without Assistance

Estonia has approved an updated defense plan in case of a complete blockade by the enemy. According to the new strategy, the country must be prepared to function autonomously for up to 30 days without external support, including assistance from NATO allies. This was reported by ERR.

The document outlines a scenario in which Estonia could find itself isolated from air, sea, and land simultaneously. In this case, the state must ensure the operation of key systems and maintain societal functioning until external aid channels are restored.

Particular attention is given to the preparation of the population. Authorities expect that every resident will have supplies for survival for at least seven days without government support — this includes water, food, fuel, communication, electricity, and access to information through media.

Tallinn is also changing its approach to military doctrine. The focus is now not only on territorial defense but also on the principle of "active defense," which allows for the possibility of striking the enemy's territory. The main goal is to prevent hostilities on Estonian soil.

In the new strategy, Russia is identified as the key threat to Euro-Atlantic security. Its policy is characterized as imperialistic and aimed at changing the security system in Europe. The document also mentions countries that are considered partners of Moscow in Estonia, including China, Belarus, North Korea, and Iran.
