The new U.S. national security strategy has become a 'divorce document' with Europe. This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in an interview with the newspaper Zeit.

'If we apply the usual criteria of political rationality, we can say that this is a divorce document. Losing Europe would be a fatal mistake for the U.S. in terms of security and foreign policy. But we must take this strategy seriously,' he said.

According to him, the turning point in U.S.-European relations occurred long before the appearance of this document. Pistorius recalled the criticism of the European Union's (EU) migration and economic policies by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. 'U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has already expressed similar sentiments at the Munich Security Conference,' the minister emphasized.

Earlier, Pistorius rejected the possibility of a Russian attack on NATO. 'I do not believe in such a scenario. The Russian leadership does not seek to wage a full-scale war against NATO,' he said.
