Christmas is associated with white and fragile snowflakes, the scent of fir trees, and time spent with loved ones. In December, the Riga Porcelain Museum invites you to indulge in festive creativity and make lace decorations by hand from white or toned – light blue or green – porcelain casting mass.
An additional activity involves creating decorations by pressing porcelain mass into pre-prepared decorative molds. Porcelain snowflakes, candles, Christmas trees, snowmen, and other figurines, as well as blanks for earrings, pendants, brooches, or sets of Christmas ornaments – unleash your imagination while creating your unique festive souvenirs and decorations!
Lace decorations are made from a pre-prepared blister filled with casting mass, which applies an elegant pattern to a gypsum base. After drying and firing at a temperature of 1250 °C, they transform into beautiful, fragile porcelain decorations. Museum staff will help you bring your idea to life and take care of the post-processing of the finished product. The finished porcelain decoration will be available at the museum for two weeks.
The workshop is open to visitors aged 7 and older, individually or in groups, and is also accessible to people with special needs.
In addition to monthly themed workshops, the museum offers other creative workshops.
