Donut recipes are diverse, but real donuts are made from yeast dough.
Ingredients for 10 pieces
- 40 g fresh yeast
- 50 g sugar
- 200 ml milk
- 500 g flour
- 5 egg yolks
- a pinch of salt
- 60 g butter
- 1 tsp grated lemon zest
- vegetable oil for frying
- 10 tbsp thick jam
- 100 g white chocolate and 100 g milk chocolate
- confectionery sprinkles
Preparation
- For the dough starter, crumble the fresh yeast in a small bowl, add sugar, and pour in warm milk. Leave in a warm place for 15 minutes.
- Sift the flour through a sieve. Add the risen dough starter, egg yolks, salt, softened butter, and lemon zest. Knead the dough thoroughly, cover with a towel, and leave in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Place the dough on a floured work surface and form 10 balls. Leave them covered with a towel for 15 minutes.
- In a large pot, heat the oil for frying. Fry the balls, then place them on paper towels to absorb excess fat.
- Transfer the jam into a pastry syringe and fill the donuts with it.
- Melt the white and milk chocolate separately and coat the donuts with them. Decorate with confectionery sprinkles.
