Cardiologist London: red wine is toxic to every cell in the body.

Cardiac surgeon Jeremy London stated that any alcohol is toxic and harmful to the heart. He settled the debate on the benefits of red wine in a conversation with the Daily Mirror.

The doctor emphasized that ethanol is toxic to every cell in the body, including the heart muscle and blood vessels. In his opinion, the only reasonable solution would be to limit or completely exclude alcohol from the diet.

At the same time, the specialist noted that red wine contains polyphenols, particularly resveratrol, which fights inflammation and dilates blood vessels. "However, to achieve a therapeutic level of resveratrol, you would have to drink an astronomical amount of red wine," the cardiologist warned.

London added that the source of this substance is grapes. It can also be found in blueberries or strawberries. Therefore, it is healthier to eat berries, which do not have such a destructive effect as alcohol. "If you enjoy red wine, drink it, but don't do it for the sake of heart health," London urged.
