What Will the Interior of the Future Look Like - Latvian Designers Will Share at the Riga Furniture & Interior 2025 Exhibition!

From October 17 to 19, at the Riga Furniture & Interior 2025 exhibition in Kipsala, there will be a great opportunity to receive consultations from professional certified designers. Design experts will share tips on how to arrange various spaces comfortably, aesthetically, and functionally with different budgets.

Where to start with interior changes? What are the most common mistakes and how to avoid them? What will homes look like in the future? Designers from the Latvian Union of Designers will answer these and many other questions about the aesthetic design of spaces at Riga Furniture and Interior 2025: Andra Racenā, Elena Ivanova, Ausma Kibilde, Kristiana Kazaryan, Miranda Laura Timma, Liga Kausiniece, Miks Petersons, Arvids Plokšta, and Viva Ievina.

The Interior of the Future – Even Simpler, Smarter, and More Natural!

According to Latvian designers, in the future, interiors will become even simpler, smarter, and more natural, with an emphasis on light and functionality. Interior designer Kristiana Kazaryan emphasizes that technology will play a significant role: "Smart lighting can enhance both the atmosphere of the space and the well-being of a person. The right spectrum of light helps to focus on work, relax in the evening, or create a festive mood while saving energy and improving quality of life." Materials will predominantly feature wood, stone, and linen, while colors will reflect calmness rather than loudness. Andra Racenā notes: "The layering of various styles will become increasingly noticeable – minimalism, modernism, and classicism will continue to develop in parallel."

Meanwhile, Arvids Plokšta believes that there will be two clear directions in design: "One will be closely related to architectural planning and building construction, while the other will be decorative, where people will express their individuality through interior details, accessories, and ancient building traditions." Viva Ievina is convinced that well-crafted and long-lasting interiors will not lose their relevance: "Over the years, they will gain the status of proven values, while new solutions will maintain diversity because there are many recipes for comfort, coziness, and beauty."

Interior and landscape designer Elena Ivanova adds that more and more people are choosing long-term rentals, so the individuality of the interior is expressed in details and visual design rather than in complete renovations.

Changes Are Not Always Expensive!

Experts emphasize that the help of a professional designer can help avoid mistakes, thus saving time and money. "Invite a designer to your home, and you will receive individual, practical, and effective solutions with minimal costs!" says Viva Ievina. Interior architect and furniture designer Andra Racenā recommends starting with simple solutions – painting walls, changing the lighting spectrum, or adding a few bright accents. Arvids Plokšta urges that when starting changes in your home, special attention should be paid to air quality; for example, when painting ceilings or walls, choose paints with low or zero VOC emissions that maintain a healthy environment.

Don’t Overdo It with Decorations!

Designers assert that it is often the excess of interior items that disrupts the harmony of a space. Viva Ievina notes: "Suddenly, you liked an item in a store, you bought it, but it no longer fits at home." Ausma Kibilde calls for allowing the space to "breathe" and not overloading it with unnecessary furniture and decorations – too many decorative pillows, vases, candle holders, or works of art can create a sense of chaos. The effect of a pleasant space can also be spoiled by an excessive number of colors or intense patterns. Certified decorative painting master Arvids Plokšta emphasizes that trusting the recommendations of sellers can distract from the originally planned needs of a specific space – these are the foundation for creating coziness. It is also a mistake to try to follow all fashion trends at once without considering the size of the space or lighting conditions.

Consult with Interior Designers and Find Your Professional!

At the Riga Furniture & Interior 2025 exhibition in Kipsala, at the stand of the Latvian Union of Designers, leading Latvian interior designers will be available for individual consultations over three days. This is an opportunity to ask questions, receive practical advice, and find ideas for improving your living or working environment. To make the consultation as productive as possible, experts recommend preparing – bringing along photos or plans of the spaces, as well as noting current questions and wishes. At the exhibition, there will be an opportunity not only to receive professional recommendations but also to assess collaboration possibilities and perhaps find a designer for your future project.

Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity – the available consultations will help realize ideas that will make your living space more functional, cozy, and visually appealing!
