According to the published report, the terrorist organization HAMAS used a sequence of emojis sent to the phones of its militants as a coded signal to initiate the attack on October 7, 2023.
This was first reported by Channel 12, and the information was confirmed by military censorship more than two years after the attack.
According to the report, emojis instructed members of the elite Nukhba unit to equip their phones with Israeli SIM cards and prepare weapons for an attack on Israeli territory.
At 9:00 PM on October 6, 2023, the SHABAK security service discovered activated Israeli SIM cards with the terrorists, which were then transmitted to IDF intelligence personnel via WhatsApp. Several more SIM cards were activated later that same night.
Analysis of the terrorists' phones showed that the same sequence of emojis was used in May 2023 and September 2022 to prepare for large-scale attacks, although previous attacks were not carried out.
