A rare burst of energy was detected from comet 3I/ATLAS 3 hours before its closest approach to Earth.
Scientists have discovered a strange burst of energy from the cosmic object 3I/ATLAS. This was reported by the All Day Astronomy account on the social network X.
It is noted that a signal with a frequency of 25 Hz appeared in the Schumann resonances just 3 hours and 20 minutes before the calculated moment of closest approach of 3I/ATLAS to Earth. "The fact that they coincide exactly with the moment when the interstellar object is closest to Earth, in my opinion, goes beyond mere coincidence," the author of the post stated.
On December 19, the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS passed at a distance of 270 million kilometers from Earth and is now moving away from it. The appearance of 3I/ATLAS was noticed by specialists on July 1, 2025, and since then they have been closely monitoring its approach. Its main feature is that it arrived in the Solar System from outside. This is the third interstellar object in the history of observations.
