A built-in feature in Windows has been found to consume a lot of RAM.

The built-in feature in Windows 11 has proven to be resource-demanding on computer systems. This was noted by the publication Neowin.

A Reddit user with the nickname Niff_Naff discussed the DoSvc (Delivery Optimization Service) feature embedded in Microsoft’s operating system (OS). The option is designed for more efficient delivery of updates for the OS. The author noticed that recently the feature has started to literally "devour" the RAM of personal computers (PCs).

It turned out that DoSvc can significantly load the device's RAM. Niff_Naff emphasized that sometimes it requires up to 20 gigabytes. In conclusion, the specialist advised Reddit users to check their PCs and disable the service if necessary.

Journalists from Neowin explained that the DoSvc service was created to optimize the delivery of updates from Microsoft servers to users' devices. The system allows PCs connected to the network to exchange data with each other and, among other things, share update files. The media authors summarized that the service, designed to optimize operations, has become detrimental to users and suggested that Microsoft fix the issue.

Previously, the authors of Neowin noted that Windows 11 added a service that could potentially slow down the performance of personal computers. It turned out that the AppX service can burden the processor, require a lot of RAM, and free disk space.
