The editorial team of the American magazine Time listed the best video games of 2025.
The ranking was published on the website of the publication. Thus, the best game of 2025 was named Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 — an RPG from the French studio Sandfall Interactive, released for personal computers (PC), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. The authors noted that the title "appeared out of nowhere," and it was created by a small team of 30 people.
In second place was Death Stranding 2: On the Beach — an action-adventure video game developed for PS5 by game designer Hideo Kojima. In third place is another PlayStation 5 exclusive, Ghost of Yotei.
The top 10 also included Split Fiction, Silent Hill f, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Lost Records: Bloom and Rage, Doom: The Dark Ages, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and Marvel Rivals.
The Time editorial concluded that 2025 was a challenging year for the gaming industry. The authors also noted that modern video games have become longer — it takes between 60 to 100 hours to complete them. "On one hand, this is great. Spending 70 dollars (5,400 rubles), I want the game to match the price," the journalists concluded.
Time named Age: The Veilguard the best video game of 2024.
