The smartphone of the future will be able to predict the user's actions.

Carl Pei listed the characteristics of the smartphone of the future. He stated this in an interview with Wired.

The head of the Chinese-British smartphone and accessories manufacturing company predicted that over time, applications will disappear. "I believe that in the future, the phone will have only one application — its operating system (OS)," Pei said. In his opinion, the OS will be sufficient to perform routine tasks and entertain the user.

The entrepreneur believes that with the help of neural networks, the gadget will be able to predict the owner's actions. "For example, the system knows your situation, time, place, and schedule, and it suggests what you should do," Carl Pei described this feature. In his view, the devices of the future will be "agent-based, automated, and proactive."

At the same time, Pei understands that this concept is currently too revolutionary to be accepted: "If we remove applications from our smartphones tomorrow, no one will buy them." The entrepreneur believes that the phones of the future he described will appear in 7-10 years.

In conclusion, Carl Pei emphasized the importance of implementing innovations and noted that the largest IT giant in the market — Apple — has become boring. "Last year they launched Apple Intelligence, but in fact, the service can only generate emojis," the specialist lamented.
