HTX user completed an experiment regarding the impact of fast charging on smartphone battery health. The study lasted two years and included several series of tests involving 40 devices.
The main series, which lasted more than six months, covered 500 full charge and discharge cycles. It compared smartphones with charging power ranging from 18 W to 120 W.
The results of the test revealed that the difference in battery degradation between models with ultra-fast (120 W) and standard (18 W) charging averaged only 0.3%. This allows us to conclude that using powerful chargers has virtually no impact on battery wear in the long term.
In the second series of tests, it was examined how beneficial it is to maintain the charge level between 30% and 80%. A comparison with the mode of complete discharge to 0% and charging to 100% showed the advantage of the "moderate" mode. The difference in battery condition was 2.5%.
However, according to the experiment's author, intentionally using only 50% of the battery's capacity to preserve just 2.5% of its health over two years is practically meaningless for most users.
The final conclusion drawn by the HTX Studio channel is that there is no need to worry excessively about the charging mode. HTX stated that users should simply use their phones as they find convenient, as the chosen charging method does not play a significant role in the long term.
