NATO naval exercises will begin in the Mediterranean Sea.

From February 23 to March 6, units from NATO member countries will conduct the annual naval exercise Dynamic Manta-2026. They will be deployed in the central part of the Mediterranean Sea.

As specified, the exercises will begin to practice anti-submarine defense tasks. The preparations are expected to take place in the territorial waters of Italy, and the activities will involve a range of scenarios. In particular, this includes tactical maneuvers for detecting and tracking submarines.

Among other things, the exercises aim to coordinate the actions of aviation and naval surface forces, involve the exchange of intelligence data, and facilitate joint planning for deep-water and coastal operations.

Such activities are organized every year as one of NATO's key multinational exercises in underwater warfare.

In January, it was reported that the North Atlantic Alliance is preparing the Cold Response military exercises involving 25,000 troops in Norway. Their conduct is scheduled for March. Preliminary estimates indicate that four thousand American soldiers will participate in the events.
