Apple increased sales in China thanks to the affordable iPhone 17.
Apple Inc. was able to emerge from the crisis thanks to the success of the iPhone 17 model. This was reported by Cult of Mac.
Journalists from the media outlet reported that the affordable iPhone 17 has been extremely successful in the Chinese market. In just the first week of sales, the company sold about 1.03 million devices. In comparison, a year ago, Tim Cook's company managed to sell 698,000 iPhone 16 units in China — a growth of 47 percent.
Experts from Cult of Mac described the way to be successful for Apple — the release of a high-quality and advanced entry-level model. The iPhone 17 features a 120 Hz display with Always-On support, a dual 48-megapixel camera, and a 256-gigabyte storage.
"The demand for smartphones has been very high — the iPhone 17 was sold out within the first hour after pre-orders began," the journalists noted. Highlighting the success of the base model, Apple increased smartphone production by 30 percent.
At the same time, at the beginning of 2025, Apple faced a sharp decline in iPhone sales in China. In the first quarter, it lost 9 percent of the market.
