The Latvian National Ice Hockey Team Begins Preparation for the World Championship

The Latvian men's ice hockey team will begin preparation for the upcoming World Championship today with a roster of 19 players, according to LETA.

It is planned that on the first day of training, two goalkeepers, seven defensemen, and ten forwards will take to the ice. Subsequently, the team will be joined by players whose seasons in Europe and North America have concluded.

The Latvian national team will play its first exhibition matches on April 8 and 9 on home ice against the Austrian national team.

Then, on April 22 and 23 in Lahti, the Latvian team will face the national teams of Denmark and Finland. In turn, on May 2 and 3, the team led by Harijs Vitolins will play away against the Slovak national team.

The Latvian national team will conclude its preparatory stage with matches on May 6 and 7, when it will meet the Norwegian national team on home ice.

The Ice Hockey World Championship will take place from May 15 to 31 in Zurich and Fribourg.
