Australian athlete diagnosed with a neck fracture at the Olympics

Australian snowboarder Cameron Bolton suffered a serious injury during training at the 2026 Olympics in Italy, ESPN reports.

The 35-year-old athlete competing in snowboard cross sustained an injury on Monday and woke up the next day with increasing pain in his neck. An examination revealed two fractures in Bolton, and he was airlifted to the hospital for further treatment.

— Cam wanted his teammates to understand what was happening, that he was okay, that he was feeling good and being taken care of. He knows how seriously we take the process of helping him, and the communication has been really good, — said Alice Camplyn, head of the Australian delegation at the Games.

The men's snowboard cross competition at the Games will take place on Thursday. Bolton is the silver medalist of the 2025 World Championship in mixed team events.
