Auda Footballers Won the Latvian Cup and a Spot in the Conference League

The Auda team on Wednesday won the Latvian Cup for the second time in its history and secured participation in the qualification for the UEFA Conference League next season, reports LETA.

In the final match held at the Skonto Stadium, Auda defeated the current Latvian champion, the Riga team, with a score of 2:1 (1:1).

Goals for Auda were scored by Jackson Kenyu and Eduards Dashkevics, while Marco Regža scored for Riga.

The scoring was opened in the middle of the first half — in the 22nd minute, Dashkevics, after a second attempt, crossed the ball into the penalty area, where Kenyu received it and sent it into the net with a precise shot. In the 39th minute, Riga equalized the score — after a free kick, Antoni Contreras headed the ball to Regža, who made it 1:1.

The winning goal was scored in the 77th minute after a counterattack: Kemelo Ngena passed the ball to Dashkevics, who burst into the penalty area and accurately shot with his right foot into the far corner, hitting the net of his former team.

In the last minute of stoppage time, Karl Vasom committed a foul in the penalty area against Kader Kone, but a penalty was not awarded as a foul by an Auda player had been called earlier.

Riga is a two-time holder of the Latvian Cup, having won the trophy in 2018 and 2023. Auda won the tournament for the first time in 2022.

Last year, the cup was won by RFS (Riga Football School), who defeated Auda 4:2 in the final during extra time.

Since the start of the Latvian Cup in 1936, the trophy has been won by 39 different clubs, and since the restoration of the country's independence, by 13 different teams.
