England football forward Harry Kane, after a crushing victory in Riga over the Latvian national team, acknowledged that the team demonstrated a very high level of play, LETA reports.
As already reported, the English team won with a score of 5:0 (3:0), with Kane himself scoring a double.
"Our game was at the highest level," said Kane, the all-time top scorer for the England national team, in an interview with Latvian Television (LTV) after the match. "From the first minutes, we applied strong pressure on the opponent, played with good intensity, moved the ball quickly, and created scoring opportunities. We knew that playing at a high level, it would be difficult to beat us, and now we have earned the chance to go to the World Cup in the summer."
Kane also praised the Latvian national team, noting that at certain moments they played very well and created difficulties for the English. However, he stated that the most important thing is to quickly regain control of the ball after losses, which the guests managed to do and turned into goals.
"Right now we are one of the strongest teams in Europe. But if the Latvian national team continues to play in this spirit, they will be able to fight for points," added Kane.
The forward, who has already scored 76 goals in 110 matches for the national team, noted that playing in a stadium with no stands on one side was a bit strange, but the pitch was of good quality, and the fans created an excellent atmosphere. "Yes, the stadium is a bit odd, but the atmosphere is great," said the Bayern Munich forward.
For the England national team, this was their sixth victory in six matches of the qualifying cycle. The team has not conceded a single goal and has already guaranteed its participation in the final stage of the World Cup.
The Latvian national team is currently ranked 137th in the world rankings, while England is fourth.
Earlier, the players of the Latvian national team commented on the score of 0:5 received from the England national team.
