The Prime Minister of Latvia, Andris Kulbergs, after meeting with representatives of the airline airBaltic, stated that he had previously lacked a more complete understanding of the company's operations. However, after reviewing the information and historical data, he gained a clearer understanding of the current situation.
So what did Kulbergs understand? According to the head of government, airBaltic provides quality services and is an important factor in Latvia's competitiveness in the Baltic region, as well as a significant element of the national economy.
The airline also plays a crucial role in developing new economic ties and ensuring Latvia's transport accessibility to key international business centers.
That's not all. It (the airline) is important in terms of the state's security and strategic capabilities. Kulbergs reported that the government plans to review the company's development plans by the end of July, emphasizing that a decision on further actions should be made this summer.
The Prime Minister also noted that further investments in the company should come from the private sector. According to him, it is unacceptable for the airline to be funded solely by taxpayers' money.
As reported by bb.lv, the management of airBaltic informed the Prime Minister that the airline will need between 100 and 150 million euros this winter.
