The leadership of the National Alliance has nominated Saeima deputies Ilze Indrikson, Janis Dombrov, Nauris Puntulis, and Janis Vitenbergs for ministerial positions in the new government, said the chairwoman of the National Alliance, Indrikson, to the LETA agency.

Indrikson has been nominated for the position of Minister of Education and Science, Dombrov is proposed to take over the Ministry of the Interior, Puntulis is nominated for the Ministry of Culture, and Janis Vitenbergs is the candidate for the position of Minister of Climate and Energy.

Indrikson explained that initially, the National Alliance wanted to head other ministries, such as the Ministry of Finance, however, the nominated Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs ("United List") indicated that he would maintain the tandem, entrusting the leadership of the Ministry of Finance to the Prime Minister's party, namely the "United List."

"Of course, the Ministry of Climate and Energy (MCE) is not the ideal choice for us; we would have preferred to lead, for example, the Ministry of Smart Governance and Regional Development, but we respect this distribution, and there are certainly many things that can be done in a short time at the MCE," Indrikson explained.

As reported, the four parties, under Kulbergs' leadership, are trying to form a new government and have divided areas of responsibility, but specific names of ministerial candidates will be announced tomorrow after a meeting with President Edgars Rinkevics, said Prime Minister candidate Kulbergs.

It is planned that in the government led by Kulbergs, the politicians of the "United List" will head the ministries of finance, justice, and smart governance and regional development. All these ministries are currently headed by prominent politicians from "New Unity."

The National Alliance will head the ministries of education and science, culture, internal affairs, and climate and energy.

The Union of Greens and Farmers (UGF) will effectively maintain its current positions, conceding leadership only of the Ministry of Climate and Energy - this party will retain the position of Speaker of the Saeima, as well as head the ministries of economy, welfare, and agriculture.

In turn, "New Unity" will retain oversight of the areas of foreign affairs and health, and will also have to head the ministries of defense and communications, which have had the most publicly discussed issues in recent months. Kulbergs did not disclose whether the current Prime Minister Evika Silina, who has recently shown interest in this position, could take the post of Minister of Defense.

Kulbergs has repeatedly emphasized that the time allotted for forming the government was short, and creating a government was almost impossible, however, it turned out that the impossible is possible if everyone works constructively.
