It has been announced that on July 11, MMA fans can expect the return of Conor McGregor to the UFC, where he will face Max Holloway. The fight announcement appeared on social media.
The Irish athlete has not been seen in the octagon since 2021, when he suffered two consecutive losses to Dustin Poirier. The break lasted 1,826 days, and it seems he will enter the top three longest breaks among fighters in the promotion.
Recall that the history of the rivalry between McGregor and Holloway began in 2013, when the Irishman won by unanimous decision. At the time of the new fight, Conor will be 37 years old. The former champion in two weight classes (lightweight and featherweight) still holds the status of one of the main stars of MMA — not only due to his skills in the cage but also thanks to his provocative statements before fights.
Max Holloway, who is 34 years old, also boasts titles: he was the UFC featherweight champion from 2017 to 2019.
According to the editorial team at bb.lv, it would certainly be more interesting to see a new fight between Conor and Khabib Nurmagomedov, but the latter currently has no plans to return to the octagon.
