Long-time leader of the National Alliance Raivis Dzintars has decided not to seek political positions in the future and will not run in the upcoming Saeima elections, according to his statement.
Dzintars notes that he has led the National Alliance and its faction in the Saeima for over 15 years, contributing to the development of a unified national-conservative political party, and thanks to its activities, some values that were once considered radical have now become generally accepted norms.
The politician expressed confidence that the National Alliance has played an important role in the development of the state, emphasizing that there will still be serious challenges in the future to preserve "Latvian Latvia."
Dzintars expressed his readiness to continue supporting the National Alliance as an active member with extensive experience, while at the same time providing an opportunity for new politicians to take on more responsibility.
The opposition National Alliance currently has 12 deputies in the Saeima. The party's candidate for the position of prime minister in the elections to the 15th Saeima will be Ilze Indriksone, who holds the position of chairperson of the board of the National Alliance.
