Who Will Receive Funding for Creativity in 2026: 44 Names Announced

The State Culture Capital Foundation (GFKK / VKKF) has allocated 644,000 euros for creative scholarships for the next year, which will be distributed among 44 candidates, reported the foundation's representative Ilona Skūja to the LETA agency.

In the field of literature, scholarships will be awarded to Ivars Steinbergs, Osvalds Zebris, Ieva Lapina, Emija Emīlija Grigoreva, Marts Pujats, Madara Gruntmane-Dujana, Lote Vilma Vitinā, Sven Kuzmin, Mara Pukite, and Daina Tabuna.

In the music sphere, scholarships have been awarded to Ilona Brege, Juris Karlsons, Ilze Liepina, Raivis Misun, Gundega Shmite, Edgars Cīrulis, Linda Leimane, and Aleksandrs Avramets.

In the visual arts, support from the GFKK will go to Ieva Balode, Sandra Krastin, Amanda Ziemele, Eriks Apalais, Martins Zūtis, Roland Pēterkops, Paul Tadeus Rietums, Kristaps Ancans, Laimdota Malle, Shelda Pukite, Ieva Epnere, Mikēlis Māris Murnieks, Ieva Kalniņa, and Alexey Beletsky.

In the performing arts, scholarships have been awarded to Laila Burane, Alise Madara Bokaldere, and Rudolf Gedinsh; in cinematography — to Madara Dishlere and Marģers Lācis; in design and architecture — to Rihards Funtss and Tina Alise Drupe.

In the field of cultural heritage, support has been provided to Agris Zeidlers; in traditional culture — to Ilmars Pumpurs and Biruta Ozoline; and in the area of interdisciplinary projects — to Agnese Gaile-Irbe and Kristīne Želve.

The GFKK states that the aim of the program is to promote the development of creative individuals who have already demonstrated a high level of artistic mastery, as well as the creation of new works and relevant high-quality research in various genres.

The duration of the scholarship is a full calendar year, from January 1 to December 31, 2026, with the scholarship amounting to 1,220 euros per month. The scholarship is paid monthly.
