The question of expressing no confidence in the chair of the Society Integration Fund (SIF) Karina Ploka is not being considered, according to what the Minister of Culture Agnese Lace said in the Latvian Television program "Morning Panorama," reports LETA.
In response to the question of whether she supports Ploka's position, the minister stated that this issue is not currently being considered.
Lace added that the Society Integration Fund (SIF) is facing a challenging time and various decisions need to be made.
It was previously reported that the board of the Latvian Journalists' Association (LJA) expressed a lack of confidence in Ploka, believing that her actions and communication raise justified doubts about her ability to competently, neutrally, and in the interests of society oversee the activities of the Media Support Fund (MSF).
In a statement to the media, the LJA emphasized that the lack of confidence is not related to any specific incident or difference in views, but is due to a systemic approach characterized by the disregard for professional journalism, insufficient understanding of the functions of the media in a democratic society, and the formation of discussions that create favorable conditions for certain companies.
For her part, Ploka sees no grounds for resignation. In an interview with the LETA agency, she emphasized that her work as the chair of the SIF board in assessing the provisions of the MSF is based on open and professional dialogue with the industry.
She also noted that when making decisions regarding the provisions of the MSF, the SIF board systematically consults with representatives of the media industry, as well as with business organizations and their representatives, and with the LJA.
