The National Electronic Media Council (NEPLP) has decided to restrict access to another 12 internet resources disseminating Russian propaganda, according to a notification published in the official publication Latvijas Vēstnesis, writes LETA.

The notification explains that the council received a letter from another competent state authority with the results of the inspection of the websites \digital.kursk.ru, \volsklife.ru, \dialog1918.ru, \banki.ru, \online47.ru, \a-cult.ru, \minkultrb.ru, \vos-mo.ru, \твстудияфакт.рф, \объясняем.рф, \contract89.ru and \контрактмо.рф.

The letter notes that these resources disseminate one-sided and biased information about the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine, provide informational and public support for Russian military personnel fighting on Ukrainian territory, legitimize the affiliation of occupied and annexed Ukrainian territories to Russia, and foster a sense of belonging and a positive overall attitude towards Russia.

According to the initiators of the inspection, this may negatively affect the cohesion of Latvian society, interethnic relations, the value system, as well as solidarity and support for Latvia regarding the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Similar decisions to restrict access to websites disseminating Russian propaganda have been made by NEPLP before.
