If a week ago the debates on the bill regarding Latvia's withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention lasted 4.5 hours, now the debates on the same issue, excluding breaks, have been going on for more than 8 hours! And it can be predicted that the discussion will continue for at least another 30-40 minutes. Meanwhile, the opponents of the bill do not even hide that their goal is simply to drag out time so that the Saeima does not have time to vote on the bill in its final reading today.
"Then, to make it all fair, just go to the podium and be silent - drag out time this way, because what you are doing now is intellectual violence," said independent deputy Didzis Šmits.
